The Mill Creek Pulpit...a look ahead.

Posted by Gary Pauley in Sermons

Read Pastor Pauley's blog updates while he is in Argentina.

Sept. 5: Mark 15:1-15, Trial.  Brian Powers will be teaching. Brian is the son of Mitch and Jerri Powers, who attend Mill Creek. Brian grew up for a number of years in the Mill Creek youth group, and has recently graduated from Manhattan Christian College.

Sept. 12: Mark 15:16-32, Execution--the murder of Jesus. Also on this Sunday I will report back from my trip to Argentina.

Sept. 19: Mark 15:33-41, The Death of Jesus. More than a death...God was "in Christ reconciling the world to Himself" (2 Cor. 5:19). What does that mean? What does it mean to you that Jesus died on the cross?

Sept.  26: Mark 15:42-47, The Resurrection of Jesus-the question the skeptic must answer. There are a number of ways to explain away the historical accounts of the resurrection--but upon examination they are not very impressive. What really happened?

3 Children at Rudy's camp in Cusco, Peru

Oct. 3: Missionary Rudy Johnson from Cusco, Peru. Rudy was serving in Lima, Peru when Pastor Pauley visited there as a 14 year old boy. This began a long standing friendship. Rudy is responsible for over 90 churches being established in Peru. At age 71 he abandoned his retirement in Miami and returned to Peru. In the Andean city of Cusco he established a camp for children that houses over 200 kids and is yielding amazing fruit for Christ. Don't miss hearing Rudy!  Watch a video of Rudy talking about the work here .

This Sunday: "And they all condemned him..." Mark 14:53-65

Caiaphas' bone-box"And  they led Jesus to the high priest."

Matthew, Luke, and John are all clear about who he was: Joseph Caiaphas. We know that Caiaphas served as High Priest from AD 18-37. We know that the Syrian Vitellius dismissed Caiaphas from office for political reasons. We know that an historian of the times recognized Caiaphas' family as "heartless when they sit in judgment" (Josephus).

In 1990, a burial bone box (ossuary) from the first century was found with the Aramaic inscription Yosef bar Qayafa, "Joseph son of Caiaphas."

The story is real. Hear more this Sunday.

Betrayed. Mark 14:43-50

Posted by Gary Pauley in Sermons

Judas is one of the most curious figures in the whole ordeal. A part of the inner circle, he is now synonymous with betrayal and back stabbing deceit. With his act of betrayal a whole series of events are set into motion that give us a dramatic view of the character of the twelve. It starts this Sunday as we delve into Mark 14:43-50.

Sunday, August 15th, will be a special Sunday. On that day you will get to see firsthand what some Mill Creek students did in the country of Nicaragua where they recently travelled to share the Gospel!

Work is progressing nicely at our McCoy Campus building! The walls are all framed in...so it is easier to imagine what it will be like finished. It is hot, hot work lately--but the crew is working every day.
