 Culture is just was is all around us. It is not just music and clothing styles...it also involves ideas and...worldviews. And culture affects us--sometimes in ways it shouldn't. But do we see it? Because culture is everything around us, sometimes as disciples we fail to see through it...it is like a haze that keeps us from seeing with clarity. That is what this series is about...about cutting through the confusion. It starts this Sunday with a look at VALUES. Our culture seems to suggest they are just personal...private ideas. Is that true? Are there certain values...? See you Sunday.

I've gone on missions trips before where you go into a village or a town to ministry and share the Gospel. We would take suitcases, cameras, film projectors, flyers, books--everything but a steeple! 

When Jesus sends his disciples on their first missions trip...he tells them to take--nothing. Bare bones ministry. Just get in there and do it. More than that, he tells them how to handle rejection.

Evidently it could get a little rough.

This Sunday: Field Training- taking it to the streets. Mark 6:7-13 

Jesus was a carpenter...or was he? Jesus had brothers...or did he? Jesus could do everything...or could he? 

In an interesting passage in Mark we see the Servant again at work...and in his interactions with people in his hometown we learn a little more about him...what his "familiars" thought of him, how those known to him responded to him, how he responded to  friends and family who rejected his message, etc.

Have you ever had someone reject you because of the Gospel? How would you respond? This Sunday let's let Jesus model the way for us as the ultimate evangelist!
