Mark: to serve & to give | No mighty work - the prophet at home | Mark 6:1-6

Mark: to serve & to give | "No mighty work" - the prophet at home | Mark 6:1-6

Pastor Gary Pauley. The Gospels show Jesus being praised at one moment and being rejected at another. The fickle crowd was consistently inconsistent. But one would think there would be a "home court advantage" for Jesus in Nazareth. Not so. In fact, He anticipated the rejection He experienced there. Watching Jesus interact, we learn something about the nature of unbelief... and how to respond to it.

Generosity: your treasure & your heart | Matthew 6:19-24

Generosity | your treasure & your heart | Matthew 6:1-24 |

Pastor Martin Burch. Jesus makes it clear that it is impossible to be committed to citizenship in two kingdoms. We must live our commitment to Him in terms of our daily choices and actions. And that includes where we invest our most important resources. As you think through what that means for you right now, what challenges do you see living in the affluence of one of the wealthiest places in America? How should we see our responsibility to the world?

Generosity: Hindrances. Matthew 19:16-22

Monday, 14 September 2009

Generosity | Hindrances | Matthew 19:16-22 |

Pastor Gary Pauley. The New Testament introduces us to a man we've come to know as the "rich young ruler". He is an illustration of a heart enslaved by materialism. His deep rooted materialism actually kept him from following Christ... because to follow Christ means that one has forsaken all other "gods" -- including money and things (Luke 16:13). For this young man, money was a more basic authority in his life than Christ could be. And that is why his story is sad... and a warning to us.

Generosity: Life that is truly life. (Acts 4:32-35)

Monday, 14 September 2009

Generosity: Life that is truly life | Acts 4:32-35 |

Pastor Gary Pauley. You could call the early church a generous church, but this probably actually describes a result of who they were. They were believers who stood together for something greater than themselves. They were a people dynamically linked together by all they had in common. They were believers who realized that everything they had was given to them by God.

Greater Impact | Three Pastors Share the Vision |

Pastors Gary Pauley, Martin Burch, and Jeff Stokes. We have 14 years of ministry history at Mill Creek. And it is time to take things to the next level. It is time to make greater impact than we have at this point. The needs are all around us...in our world, our city, and even in our own church family. And in all these places there are great opportunities to make an eternal impact for Jesus Christ... like we never have before. This challenge from all three pastors walks us through what that looks like now, and over the next three years in our Greater Impact campaign.

Mark: to serve & to give | Jesus Master of All (Mark 5:21-43)

Monday, 24 August 2009

Mark: to serve & to give | Demons, disease & death: Jesus master of all | (Mark 5:21-43) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. In chapter five of Mark's Gospel, Jesus confronts a demonized man, delivers a desperate woman, and assists a distressed father. At issue was the work of demons, the finality of death, and the devastation of disease. There is no category of trouble that doesn't fall under the Lordship of Jesus. Those around Jesus are learning that He is the one who can change everything... when there is no where else to turn.

Mark: to serve & to give | Tell Them How Much (Mark 5:1-20) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. Accounts of dramatic conversions stir the hearts of Christians. After all, we have a mighty Savior! This message looks at an account of just such a dramatic change recorded in Mark 5. There, Jesus tells the new believer to freely share with everyone just how much God had done for him.

Mark: to serve & to give | Lord of the Storm (Mark 4:35-41)

Monday, 03 August 2009

Mark: to serve & to give | Lord of the Storm (Mark 4:35-41) |

Pastor Martin Burch. Jesus has revealed Himself through miracles and teaching throughout the gospel of Mark. In this striking account, Jesus calmly deals with worst circumstances in a way that challenged the lack of faith in His disciples. There are lessons for us as we face life's storms...

Mark: to serve & to give | The Kingdom Parables (Mark 4:21-34)

Monday, 27 July 2009

Mark" to serve & to give | Kingdom Parables (Mark 4:21-34) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. GROWTH STORIES. Jesus referred to the growth of His Kingdom in organic terms. So much gets made of programs, models, and human strategies for success in ministry these days that we can forget Jesus' clear picture of God causing growth.

This message, along with testimonies from our student ministry missions trip to South Texas, reminds us to recapture the vision of Jesus for the kingdom's impact in our world.

Mark: to serve & to give | The Parable of the Seed (Mark 4:1-20)

Monday, 20 July 2009

Mark: to serve & to give | The Parable of the Seed (Mark 4:1-20) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. Jesus' Parable about the seeds and the soils is very compelling. When we think about the statement about the seed that grew...that produced 30, 60, and 100 times the seed that was sown. The emphasis in the passage is not the root or the growth...but the fruitfulness of the seed. Why was Jesus concerned with the results of the kingdom? Are we fruitful in our proclamation of the gospel today?

It's Time | Mill Creek & Next Level Ministry | Greater Impact Campaign 2009

Monday, 20 July 2009

It's Time. | Mill Creek & Next Level Ministry | Greater Impact Campaign |

Pastor Gary Pauley. Scripture describes the church as a resource instituted by Christ and charged with helping believers become fruitful. We often use the word "develop" to describe this process.

Can we get better at this task? We believe we can. This message suggests how we can get better at our charge to grow productive disciples. It will mean making some changes and going after some ministry improvements...and we can hit that next level of ministry effectiveness.

Mill Creek has been at this task for nearly 15 years. And it has been an awesome experience. It's time to take it to the next level.
