Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Presentation & Transformation (Romans 12:1-2) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. What does all of the theology of the first 11 chapters of Romans have to do with me? Paul appeals to believers to respond to the truth he has shared...

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Israel's Future: Part 3 (Romans 11:25-36) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. As we look at Paul's teaching on God's present and future plans for Israel, we notice the drama and tension of human resistance to the gospel and just how God's sovereign purposes are fulfilled. Paul refers to this as a "mystery" -- a term that means that he is explaining something as a New Testament apostle that had not been fully known before.

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Israel's Future Failure & Fulfillment (Romans 11:12-24) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. In Romans we have seen Paul deal with Israel's past and present, particularly as the nation relates to God and the work of Christ. Now, in Romans chapter eleven, Paul begins to deal with the future of Israel in God's plan.

Changing Hearts by Renewing Minds

Special End of Year Sermon | Changing Hearts by Renewing Minds |

Pastor Gary Pauley. The human heart is complex, and we are not referring to the muscle in your chest! The Bible refers to the inner man through the metaphor of the heart. And that heart is born defective and in need of healing and change. Ministry is about the changing of the condition of the human heart through the renewal of the mind...

Emmanuel: God Came Near | Part 2

Emmanuel: God Came Near | Part 2 |

Pastor Gary Pauley. Jesus was the one "born King of the Jews" -- but He was not born in the protected and privileged halls of royalty. Instead, He entered humanity in the feeding trough of a peasant's home. He came into the circumstances of His earthly parents, Mary and Joseph, typical Jewish parents. And this identification with humanity was important to God's plan...

Immanuel: God Came Near | Part 1

Immanuel | God Came Near | Part 1 |

Pastor Gary Pauley. The Bette Midler song told us that "God is watching us from a distance." It is the idea of many people -- God is distant, "out there", but nowhere near me. The Jewish people of Jesus' day no doubt had come to feel abandoned by God. They had not heard from Him for centuries. But the coming of "Immanuel" was the breaking of silence... the voice of God speaking again to His people.

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Belief, Unbelief and the future of Israel | Romans 11:1-10

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Belief, Unbelief, and the Future of Israel (Romans 11:1-10) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. American evangelicals tend to be impressed by large numbers... by quantitative success. Some polls give the impression that almost everyone around us is a Christian. But Jesus taught that the way to life is "narrow" and for the "Few" (Matthew 7:14). Often God works through a remnant of the faithful, a rag-tag collection of believers surrounded by a God-rejecting culture. How did this fit Paul's analysis of Israel's past, present and future? Romans 11 answers that question.

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Receiving the Message (Romans 10:12-21)

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | Receiving the Message (Romans 10:12-21) |

Pastor Martin Burch.

Paul was always the type of guy who was incredibly serious about obeying God. His first introduction to us in scripture shows us a man who was a devout Jewish leader and committed persecutor of Christianity. All that changed when God got a hold of him (see Acts 9). When he committed to God’s truth in Messiah Jesus, he became a man uniquely equipped to see God’s plan for the world. And it included a continuing passion for Israel. Paul picks up his explanation of who may receive the message of the gospel in Romans 10:12-21…

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | A Heart for the Lost (Romans 10:1-11)

Monday, 10 November 2008

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | A Heart for the Lost (Romans 10:1-11) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. What does it mean to truly love someone in need of Jesus? Romans 10 answers that question. In Romans 9, Paul explained God's dealings with Israel's past. Now Chapter 10 explains Israel's present. Paul was distraught over Israel's lack of faith, her failure to truly know God. In this passage, Paul explains why he was so concerned for his people.

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | The Stone of Stumbling (Romans 9:30-33)

Monday, 03 November 2008

Romans: Ruin & Rescue | The Stone of Stumbling (Romans 9:30-33) |

Pastor Gary Pauley. Many in our culture consider the toleration of religious views to mean that no one can claim to be "right" or the only way to God. But does the Bible commend this kind of thinking? Can the claims of Christianity legitimately examine and critique other views that compete with it? Paul seemed to be perfectly comfortable contrasting the truth of a "righteousness that is by faith" with that of the contemporary Judaism of his day. Follow along as Pastor Gary Pauley takes us through the end of Romans nine to examine Paul's bold, spiritual questions that confront anything against a rightousness that can only be pursued by faith.
